During the first wave of the pandemic we were in London. We remember celebrating both our 60th birthdays on our balcony with a take away.
We also registered as NHS Volunteers. We shopped and got medicine for those who couldn’t get out of their homes. On delivering a prescription to an old lady in Lewisham, she saw my Islington Cycling Club jersey and said “You’ve come all the way from Islington? That’s a bloody long way”.
I also volunteered, through ICC, to do collections for a food bank.
I was lucky during the pandemic. I got to ride my bike along empty streets and help out a few people along the way.
