The big one

Never let reality get in the way of a good marketing name.

The 1001Miglia, at 1,586km is a bit short of the magical 1001 miles but it will still be the longest ride I have attempted so far.

It was touch and go but the organisers have confirmed that that the postponed 2020 1001Miglia will take place this August. Starting and finishing in Milan on a Monday afternoon we have until Sunday morning, 132 hours, to complete the course.

I’ve already formulated a rough plan.

600km+ – sleep – 300km+ – sleep – 300km+ sleep – 300km+ to finish on Friday night with a day and a half contingency. I’ve booked my hotel for the Friday and Saturday nights ready for whenever I return.

Now I need to start my training, starting with the Granfondo Squali on Sunday.
