Third time lucky

I’m thrilled, and touched.

For the third year in a row I have been nominated for the Islington Cycling Club Awards. Two years ago I was nominated for ‘Unsung Hero’, last year was ‘Oustanding Contribution to the Club’ and this year for ‘Cycling Achievement’.

As I’m only in London for half the year I am really delighted to be nominated. Like the previous two years, I have no expectation of winning (I didn’t). The nominations are more than enough for me.

I still have no idea who submitted any of my nominations, but thank you, whoever you are.

“for making Paris-Brest-Paris sound easy” is a great compliment, thank you. It wasn’t, but I did train hard for it. I’m delighted to have set a new club record for the event (OK, to my knowledge, only four of us have done PBP, but as they are all about 20 years younger than me then I’ll take that).

Now that voting has closed, I’m happy to reveal that in my category I voted for Sero (It just didn’t seem right for vote for oneself). His nomination didn’t even mention that he also finished Paris-Brest-Paris this year. Chapeau Sero.

I also voted for David Mason for Unsung Hero, which seems only fair, as I nominated him. Chapeau David.

Chapeau to all those who were nominated and good luck to everyone for the awards night at the ICC Christmas Party on the 6th December.

7th December update: I’m delighted that both Sero and David won their categories. Chapeau once again.
