Photo: The first cut is the deepest

As we say goodbye to a year we’d rather forget it’s time to complete the tally for 2020. It’s an easy job as Strava does that for me. They even send a video with all your highlights and statistics. I really don’t understand why the video arrives about two weeks before the end of the year. There are still plenty of days left to add to the totals. It makes no sense.

The end of 2020 also saw the end of my first Specialissima frame. After replacing it under warranty Bianchi agreed to return it to me on condition that Stefano, the dealer, cut a section out so that I couldn’t use it again. He said he nearly cried when he made the cuts. At least I get to mount the frame on the garage wall. When the garage is complete of course, but that’s another story.

Considering what happened to the world in 2020 I’m delighted with my stats. Included in all these numbers is the Giro di Muscoli. With the simulation, the original June weekends and the event itself in September I effectively rode the 2,300km event twice. Helping to raise € 115,852.79 for Motor Neurone Disease patients doesn’t appear in these stats but it’s easily the highlight of 2020.
